Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information Above Bits collects through this website, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We keep data collection to what we actually need — we don't sell or rent your information.
1 Who We Are
This website is operated by Above Bits LLC ("Above Bits," "we," "us," or "our"), a company registered in North Carolina, USA. If you have any question about this policy or your data, contact us at service@abovebits.com.
2 Information We Collect
We collect only what's needed to respond to you, process payments, and run the site:
- Information you give us. When you submit a contact or engagement form, you provide details like your name, email, phone number, company, and whatever you write in your message.
- Payment information. When you pay through our payment page, payment is handled by Stripe (see Section 4). We don't collect or store your full card number on our own systems.
- Communication records. If you email, call, or otherwise contact us, we may keep a record of that correspondence.
- Technical and usage data. Like most sites, we automatically receive technical details such as IP address, browser and device type, and how you move through the site. This helps us keep the site secure and working well.
We do not operate user accounts on this website, so we don't collect usernames or passwords here.
3 How We Use Your Information
We use the information above to:
- respond to your inquiry and discuss a potential engagement;
- process and confirm payments you make through the site;
- provide support and maintain our relationship with you;
- operate, secure, and improve the website;
- meet legal, tax, and regulatory obligations, and enforce our Terms & Conditions.
We don't send marketing email blasts. If we ever introduce optional updates, they'll be something you can opt into and out of.
4 Payments & Stripe
Payments made through our payment page (abovebits.com/payment) are processed by Stripe, a third-party payment processor. When you pay, your card details are collected and handled directly by Stripe under its own security standards and privacy policy.
Above Bits does not store your full payment card number. We receive limited confirmation details from Stripe — such as that a payment succeeded, the amount, and the associated name or email — so we can reconcile it against the relevant invoice or engagement.
5 Cookies & Analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site functioning and to understand how it's used. This may include analytics services such as Google Analytics, which collects usage data to help us improve the site.
- You can manage or disable cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as well.
- To opt out of Google Analytics specifically, you can use the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
6 How We Share Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only in these limited situations:
- Service providers. With vendors who help us operate — for example, payment processing (Stripe), hosting, and analytics — and only to the extent they need it to perform their service.
- Legal requirements. When required to comply with applicable law, a court order, or a lawful government request.
- Business transfers. If Above Bits is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction.
- With your consent. For any other purpose we describe to you at the time and you agree to.
7 Data Retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected — to respond to you, fulfill an engagement, meet tax and legal obligations, and resolve disputes. When it's no longer needed, we delete it or anonymize it.
8 Data Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures — including encryption in transit and access controls — to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but if a breach affecting your personal information occurs, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
9 Your Rights & Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information — including under the EU/UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). These can include the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate information;
- request deletion of your information;
- receive a copy of your information in a portable format;
- object to or restrict certain processing.
To exercise any of these, email us at service@abovebits.com. We won't discriminate against you for exercising your rights, and we'll respond within the timeframe the law requires.
10 Children's Privacy
This website is intended for businesses and adults. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we learn we've collected such information without proper consent, we'll delete it.
11 Third-Party Links
The site may link to other websites — including our own product, Civic Kernel, at civickernel.com, which has its own privacy policy. We're not responsible for the privacy practices of sites we don't operate, and we encourage you to review their policies.
12 Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or the law. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be posted on this page. Your continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
